2. Overview

This website is a personal blog. I take the protection of your personal data seriously and process your data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

3. Hosting

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. When you visit this site, Cloudflare may process your IP address and other technical connection data to deliver the content. Cloudflare acts as a processor on my behalf.

The source code is stored on GitHub (GitHub, Inc., USA). GitHub is not involved in serving the website to visitors.

Cloudflare’s data processing is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. More information: Cloudflare Privacy Policy

4. Server Log Files

Cloudflare collects and temporarily stores server log data that your browser transmits automatically, including:

  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Referrer URL
  • IP address
  • Time of request

This data is processed to deliver the website and to protect it against attacks and abuse. It is not combined with other data sources and is not used to identify individual visitors. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and stable website operation).

5. Analytics

This website uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics tool. Plausible does not collect personal data, does not use cookies, and does not track visitors across websites. All data is aggregated and no individual visitors can be identified.

I self-host Plausible on my own infrastructure. No data is shared with third parties.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in understanding website usage).

More information: Plausible Data Policy

6. Buy Me a Coffee

The footer contains a plain hyperlink to Buy Me a Coffee (buymeacoffee.com). No script, image, or other resource is loaded from Buy Me a Coffee, and no data is transmitted to them unless you actively click the link and leave this website. From that point on, Buy Me a Coffee’s own privacy policy applies.

More information: Buy Me a Coffee Privacy Policy

7. Fonts, Scripts and External Resources

All resources required to display this website are self-hosted:

  • Fonts (Fira Code)
  • MathJax (used to render mathematical formulas on individual articles)
  • All theme scripts and stylesheets

No content delivery networks (such as Google Fonts, jsDelivr, or cdnjs) are used.

While viewing this website, your browser therefore only connects to two hosts, both operated by me:

  • blog.unitedbots.net: the website itself (see section 3 on hosting)
  • analytics.globalbots.net: the self-hosted analytics endpoint (see section 5)

No data is transmitted to any third party unless you actively click an external link and leave this website.

8. SSL/TLS Encryption

This website uses SSL/TLS encryption (HTTPS) for security reasons and to protect the transmission of personal data. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the lock icon in your browser’s address bar.

9. Cookies and Local Storage

This website sets no cookies at all, neither first-party nor third-party.

Two settings are stored locally in your browser using localStorage so that the site behaves the way you left it:

  • pref-theme: your choice of light or dark mode
  • menu-scroll-position: the scroll position of the navigation menu

This information stays in your browser, is never transmitted to me or to anyone else, and is strictly necessary to provide the display functions you requested. Storing it therefore does not require your consent (§ 25 Abs. 2 Nr. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it at any time via your browser settings.

No consent banner is shown because nothing on this website requires consent.

10. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR) — You can request information about the data I process about you.
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR) — You can request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) — You can request deletion of your data.

  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) — You can request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR) — You can object to data processing based on legitimate interests.

To exercise any of these rights, contact me at: [email protected]
